Pay Award 2024/25
Council leaders across Scotland have agreed to implement the national pay award offer for 2024/25.
The pay award offer is for an increase of £0.67 in the hourly rate or 3.6%, whichever is higher - for the period 1 April 2024 to 31 March 2025.
The pay award, along with backdated pay to 1 April 2024, is planned for payment on the following dates, depending on the frequency of your pay:
- 28 November 2024: weekly/two weekly/monthly pay
- 4 December 2024: four weekly pay.
Please note that while this revised pay offer is being implemented - COSLA are continuing to seek collective agreement from all trade unions. We will continue to keep you informed if there are any updates regarding any results of discussions.
What this means for you
This means that the pay levels in each grade have increased.
You can view the staff salary scales for 2024/25 here.
Payroll
The pay award is calculated based on work patterns and will be pro-rated for part-time employees.
Our payroll team are unable to provide an estimate of any back pay you will receive until each pay run is finalised. They will only be able to answer queries once you have received your payslip and appreciate your patience while you await a response.
If you have a question upon receipt of your payslip, please contact payrollgeneral@renfrewshire.gov.uk.
Universal Credit
If you receive Universal Credit the amount you get changes if your take-home pay changes. This includes the award of any pay arrears.
If you receive additional pay within a Universal Credit assessment period (month), your Universal Credit payment will either be less than you normally receive, or your income may be too high to qualify for a payment.
The pay award together with pay arrears may mean you will either receive less Universal Credit than normal or you may even earn too much to qualify, and your Universal Credit claim will close. If your claim closes, you will see a message on your UC Journal telling you about this.
You can access your UC Journal at www.gov.uk/sign-in-universal-credit.
If Universal Credit payments stop because you have had additional pay, you must start up your claim again. You should do this as soon as you can to make sure you do not miss out.
You can do this by logging into your UC journal and selecting the "Reclaim" tab. You will find this at the bottom of the screen. This will take you to a new screen where you will be asked to answer a few simple questions. If you have any problems doing this, please contact your Work Coach.
Universal Credit is calculated on your personal circumstances, because of this we, as your employer, are unable to advise how, or if, you may be affected.
An overview of Universal Credit can be found at www.gov.uk/universal-credit
