Paisley Halloween Festival 2024 - Access to Renfrewshire House
If you normally work at Renfrewshire House, please plan ahead and consider working from home where possible on Thursday 24 and Friday 25 October.
Paisley has become Scotland's home of Halloween and this week we'll welcome thousands of visitors when our award-winning Halloween Festival returns.
The free event will take place from Friday 25 to Saturday 26 October, with some exciting event changes to celebrate its 10-year anniversary including the return of the much-loved parade. To deliver such a large-scale event, we need to close some roads, alter parking arrangements and there will be some access changes to Renfrewshire House.
Road closures and access to Renfrewshire House
Our events team work with colleagues across the council to minimise any disruption from these essential road closures.
Here's what you need to know:
Access to Renfrewshire House
If you are working in Renfrewshire House on Friday 25 October, please leave no later than 5.30pm, to allow our facilities management colleagues time to secure the building.
Car parking and road closures
Bridge Street and the Bridge Street Car Park will be closed from Tuesday 22 until Tuesday 29 October. This means anyone entering or leaving the car park at Renfrewshire House between those dates will need to do so via Gauze St/Cotton St.
The Lagoon north car park will be closed from Thursday 24 October until Sunday 27 October.
The Orchard Street car park will be closed from Friday 25 October until 11.30 pm on Saturday 26 October.
Cotton Street (both sides) will close to traffic from 3pm until 11pm on Friday 25 October and again from 3pm - 11pm on Saturday 26 October. This means anyone entering or leaving the Renfrewshire House Car Park for work purposes between those times will need to do so via the back entrance, at Mill Street (next to the ICT annexe).
The top deck of Renfrewshire House Car Park will need to be cleared by 4pm on Friday 25 October. This is to ensure we can provide blue-badge parking space for the event.
- From 3pm until 11pm on event days there will be extensive road closures throughout the town centre, with suspension of parking kicking in from midday on those days.
You can find full details on road closures and how to get to the event on the PaisleyIs website.
Mill Street
Temporary road closures and lane restrictions will be in place from 6.30pm-8.30pm on Friday 25 October and again from 6pm - 8.30pm on Saturday 26 October on the following roads:
- Mill Street from Incle Street to Lonend (closure)
- Glasgow Road (Westbound) from Mill Street to Kilnside Road (lane restrictions)
Bus routes
Signs will be in place showing alternative bus routes. Please note that some bus stops and routes may be impacted by road closures. Check local operators McGills Buses for more information.
Paisley Halloween Festival changes
Paisley Halloween Festival will take place on Friday 25 (4pm - 9pm) and Saturday 26 October (2pm - 9pm), when the ever-popular free-to-attend event will take over the town centre.
There are some changes to the event to celebrate its tenth anniversary year.
The return of the popular parade
Daytime entertainment including stage and street performances.
New funfair location at the Lagoon and East End Park.
The parade will start at 7pm each night and last approximately 60 minutes. There will be more places you'll be able to see it from too, with the route taking in Mill Street for the first time.
The event is free-to-attend but this year there is the option to purchase tickets for new grandstand seating offering a fantastic view of the parade. Find out more and book your tickets on the PaisleyIs website.
