Winter safety message for colleagues—Are you RenReady?
With the increased likelihood of severe weather, and a heightened risk to cyber security, it's important to be #RenReady for emergencies and adept at staying safe online this winter.
We've pulled together information and advice for Renfrewshire residents on our website about the most common weather-related issues at this time of year. This includes guidance on how to prepare for snow and ice, and flooding, how to avoid frozen or burst pipes and who to contact in an emergency.
Colleagues are also encouraged to complete our Cyber Savvy Checklist to make sure you are staying safe online and protecting yourself and the council from cyber-attacks.
Cyber Savvy Checklist:
- Carefully check all messages including emails and instant messages before opening links or attachments.
- Complete your mandatory cyber security training on iLearn at least once each year.
- Create strong, unique passwords using three random words like Pilot-Rope-Badge1! Our recently updated passphrases and security guidance on iLearn has more information to help you.
- Regularly visit the RenSafeOnline website for up-to-date advice and use their nine free tools for help with things like verifying a website and checking your passwords are secure.
If you think you have interacted with a scam, remember to ABC:
- Abandon what you are doing, DON'T email anyone
- Be calm and gather information about the suspicious message
- Call the ICT Service Desk on 0141 487 0000 immediately!
