Working at Renfrewshire House update

Work continues at Renfrewshire House to create team focused office space that promotes collaboration, and a balance of meeting rooms, office, quiet and private spaces, that works for colleagues, teams, and customers who use the building.

Moves and upcoming works

As we look to maximise the usage of Renfrewshire House, a number of teams have relocated in the past few months, and we've also welcomed some new arrivals.

Since our last update our One Ren colleagues have moved from the Robertson Centre and are now working with colleagues on the 3rd floor core.

Following the sale of the Robertson Centre, as part of our review of council proprieties, Renfrewshire Valuation Joint Board (RVJB) colleagues based there are moving into Renfrewshire House this weekend, to the 1st floor south, and the space previously occupied by the Care Inspectorate, who moved out last month.

Please note that RVJB have been designated 10 car parking spaces in Renfrewshire House as part of their lease. These are located on the upper deck of the car park and will be clearly designated as "Reserved for RVJB".

Work will soon get underway on the lower ground floor, to create the appropriate environment for our Child Care Social Work teams and their business support colleagues. This includes building family rooms, meeting rooms and safe spaces on the lower ground floor.

The work will begin after the early May Bank Holiday and is expected to take up to five weeks. During this time, the team will relocate to the 2nd floor hub, at the rear of 2nd floor north. For colleagues who work in this area, please note the increase in footfall.

Once this work is complete, work will begin on the 1st floor, where our HSCP colleagues are based following their move from Abbey House. The work is expected to last up to six weeks and the team will relocate to the 2nd floor hub during this time.

Work is also set to begin next month to resurface the ramp and other access routes to Renfrewshire House and the Customer Service Centre. The lift at the front of the building will be removed at the beginning of next week to facilitate the works, and we'll share more details about the impact of the works, in the coming weeks.

Meeting Room availability

We understand that on certain days, finding a meeting room on your floor may be challenging. You told as much in last year's Improving Our Workplace survey, and we are working to identify and create additional meeting space wherever possible.

One such option is to increase meeting space on 1st floor south as RVJB will not be using the entire floorplate.

We are also looking at additional PODs, to free up meeting rooms, however, due to the size, careful consideration must be given as to where they are located.

While this work continues, it's important we make better use of our existing meeting space, and you may have seen that we recently increased the capacity of our meeting rooms, replacing maximum usage signs with recommend usage ones.

We've also added meeting room guidance posters, encouraging colleagues to be respectful of other users. This includes finishing meetings on time, taking your rubbish with you and reporting any issues with the room to the relevant teams.

If you are looking for meeting space, we would encourage you to look out with your own floor and make use of the meetings rooms, PODs and breakout spaces across the building, many of which are under used and readily available.

Kitchens

Colleagues are reminded to be mindful of other users, especially those with food allergies and our cleaners, and to keep the kitchens clean and tidy.

This includes wiping down surfaces and microwaves with the blue roll provided, not disposing of liquid in the bins, and removing all out-of-date food and drink from fridges, especially at weekends.

Moving forward, the fridges will be cleaned on the last Friday of each month, and any out-of-date food and drink will be binned.

Car Parking

Car parking remains a challenge however we are hopeful of reaching agreement with the Trade Unions on the introduction of parking permits for Renfrewshire House car park later this year.

We will provide a further update once agreement has been reached, however in the meantime can colleagues please park responsibly.

This means not parking in disabled bays, designated spaces for our RVJB colleagues and councillors, or Abbey Close car park. Wardens will be patrolling the car park and issuing penalty notices to anyone parking in these spaces.

If you can't find a legal space in Renfrewshire House car park there are 65 spaces available in Saucel Crescent car park. It's just a short walk from Renfrewshire House and is currently free of charge for council employees.
