Important updates to our ICT Acceptable Use Policy (AUP)
Colleagues are asked to review our AUP and note the recent changes.
ICT have recently implemented important updates to our Acceptable Use Policy (AUP). These changes are designed to enhance our digital security, ensure responsible use of ICT resources, and support a productive work environment.
Here's the key things you need to know:
- Our AUP applies to all ICT equipment including personal devices when being used in line with our Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) policy.
- Personal or sensitive information must not be shared on public systems including AI tools, social media and search engines.
- Council information and official business activities should only be processed on ICT-approved platforms and systems.
- Always use complex passwords that meet our security requirements and change them regularly. Check out our 'Passphrases and security' module on iLearn for guidance.
- Pay attention to the security banners in Outlook for an indication of the risk level on emails.
- Colleagues are asked to enable multi-factor authentication (MFA).
- Report suspicious activity and cyber security issues immediately by calling ICT on 0141 487 0000.
- Complete the Induction Module on iLearn at least once.
- Do the mandatory cyber security course on iLearn annually and explore the related modules to learn more.
- Pay attention to ICT and staff news updates.
Not following our AUP may lead to:
- Immediate revocation of ICT privileges.
- Disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
- Legal action if necessary.
We'd like to thank everyone for reviewing these important updates. Adhering to our rules and guidelines is critical for protecting the council, colleagues and the local people we serve.
Look out for further information and guidance from ICT on using AI at work coming soon.
