Renfrewshire Council

Consider others when parking at Renfrewshire House

A reminder that disabled parking spaces are strictly for blue badge holders and overflow parking is available at Saucel Crescent.

With limited car parking spaces currently available on a first-come-first-serve basis, a full car park at Renfrewshire House is to be expected on busy working days.

Overflow parking is available at Saucel Crescent car park, just a seven-minute walk away, offering 65 free parking spaces for council employees every Monday to Friday.

Disabled parking bays at Renfrewshire House are strictly for the use of blue badge holders only and parking at neighbouring Abbey Place is prohibited.

Our Head of Facilities and Property Services, Chris Dalrymple said: "I am concerned about disabled colleagues, and residents of Abbey Place, who have reported being unable to park their cars when needed due to irresponsible parking by some council staff.

"When demand for parking exceeds capacity, we rely on our colleagues to set the right example by living our values. This means considering others and ensuring spaces are available for those who need them.

"I have asked my team to monitor this and to speak to people parking in these bays without blue badges. The car park is now covered by a Traffic Regulation Order and parking attendants can issue Penalty Charge Notices when appropriate. This includes when a car is parked in a disabled parking bay with no blue badge on display.

"We are currently engaging with our Trade Union colleagues to try to agree a fair and practical solution for colleagues wishing to park at Renfrewshire House and I will keep you updated with progress."
