Storm Éowyn - Red Weather Warning: message for council staff

The Met Office have issued a red weather warning for Renfrewshire and parts of Scotland due to very strong winds associated with Storm Éowyn on Friday 24 January 2025 between 10am and 5pm.

The Storm is expected to cause very dangerous conditions and significant disruption with potential risk to life. Police Scotland are advising the public not to travel in, or to, the areas affected by the red weather warning during this period.

Staff who can work from home on Friday 24 January are advised to do so - please confirm this with your line manager.   

All schools, nurseries and council buildings will be closed with the exception of some essential council services which will continue to operate as normal. Please take guidance from your line manager over the arrangements for your service. 

An amber weather warning for very strong winds will also be in place for Renfrewshire from 6am to 9pm on Friday 24 January 2025. 

Please ensure you remain safe and follow the weather and travel advice from the Met Office and Police Scotland at all times.
