First Minister greets Renfrewshire Schools Pipe Band ahead of Tartan Day parade

Young people in the Renfrewshire Schools Pipe Band met with First Minister John Swinney ahead of the pre-parade event in Bryant Park on Saturday.

The pipe band performed at both the pre-parade and the parade through New York to celebrate Tartan Day.

Young people wearing blue tartan and holding bagpipes and drums gather on a New York street with Pipe Major Keith Bowes Jnr. and First Minister John Swinney.

John Swinney said: "This is the most magnificent opportunity for them to see New York and to perform and demonstrate their strength in piping and drumming."

The trip was made possible by the parents and carers of the young people in the pipe band. Renfrewshire Council provided additional funding support.
