Top marks for Bargarran Primary School after inspection
Pupils, teachers and families of Bargarran Primary School are celebrating getting a glowing report from Education Scotland's inspectors.
The Erskine school received an excellent grade for leadership and three very good grades for learning and teaching, wellbeing and inclusion, and attainment and achievement.
Headteacher Alistair Lyle is praised for his strategic direction of the school. His approach is supported by the depute heads and their joint efforts are credited with helping to raise attainment for all children.
Children are proud to be pupils of Bargarran Primary and are described as highly confident, happy, enthusiastic, respectful and articulate. Extensive work by the school on children's rights has helped children feel confident in their place in the world.
Pupils are encouraged to be creative, innovative and curious in their learning. The school's shared vision and values has created a supportive education environment.
Digital technology is used effectively by the school and enhances children's learning. Pupils have developed essential skills and use technology creatively.
Senior school leaders track and monitor attainment and achievement rigorously and consistently.
Head teacher Alistair Lyle said: "I am delighted that the hard work of our staff team and pupils over a sustained period of time has been recognised through our inspection report."
Councillor Emma Rodden, convener of Renfrewshire Council's Education and Children's Services Policy Board, commended the inspection result. She said: "The grade Bargarran Primary School has attained is outstanding. To achieve an excellent rating for leadership shows the hard work and determination Alistair and his senior leadership team give each and every day and is unequivocal. They have created a fantastic educational environment that supports children to be confident in their learning and realise their full potential. This positive inspection result is a tribute to the strength of the staff team, pupils and families at Bargarran. A huge well done to all!"
