Fireworks and explosives

The law states that you must store and display your fireworks safely. In order to store fireworks, you must register your premises with us.

You need to register to sell fireworks, and can only do so during specific dates.

Please refer to the Health & Safety Executive guidance on selling a storing fireworks before making an application.

Dates where sale is permitted

First day of the Chinese New Year and the three days immediately before it.
The day of Diwali and the three days immediately before it.
Between 15 October and 10 November.
Between 26 December and 31 December.

Retailers wishing to sell fireworks outside these dates must obtain a further licence from us. This will be in addition to the storage licence.

How to apply

Complete the application form which best suits your needs. The applications forms can be found in the 'related media' section of this page.
Applications will take a MINIMUM of 5 days to process from receipt. You CANNOT sell until your application has been processed and you have received your storage licence.
