Rising cost support: Free advice events held across Renfrewshire in May and June
We are running a series of pop-up events to help local people access advice and support around benefits and managing debts amidst rising costs.
The Advice Works team will be visiting libraries and community centres in Renfrewshire throughout May and early June to offer free, confidential advice.
Drop-in sessions are open to everyone and there is no need to book an appointment, just drop by during the times given below.

- 8 May 2025, 10am-12pm, Tannahill Centre (next to Ferguslie Park Library)
- 9 May 2025, 10am-12pm, Glenburn Library
- 14 May 2025, 10am-12pm, Lochwinnoch Library
- 16 May 2025, 10am-12pm, Cargill Hall (next to Bridge of Weir Library)
- 21 May 2025, 10am-12pm, Erskine Library
- 23 May 2025, 10am-12pm, Foxbar Library
- 28 May 2025, 10am-12pm, Linwood Library
- 30 May 2025, 10am-12pm, Renfrew Library
- 4 June 2025, 10am-12pm, Ralston Community Centre (next to Ralston Library)
- 6 June 2025, 10am-3pm, Paisley Central Library
Advisors will be on hand to answer any questions people may have about benefits, including whether they qualify and how to apply. They will be advising on benefits such as:
- Universal Credit
- Pension Credit
- Scottish benefits like the Scottish Child Payment or Best Start Grants
- Child, Adult or Pension Age Disability Benefits
- Carer Support Payment
- Young Carers Grant (for 16, 17 and 18 year olds)
- Free School Meals or help to buy school clothing
- Council Tax Reduction or Discretionary Housing Payment
They will also provide one-to-one support for anyone looking for help managing debt or improving their financial situation.
Those who can't attend an event can get money and benefit advice from Advice Works by calling 0300 300 1238 and asking for a benefit check or support with any money or debt issues.
