Food Waste Action Week 2025

Renfrewshire Council and Fair Food Renfrewshire are proud to support Food Waste Action Week which takes place from 17 - 23 March 2025.

The UK's biggest annual food waste reduction campaign aims to encourage more people to consider changes they can make to reduce their food waste. This year the focus is on why buying loose fruit and vegetables in better.

Every year in the UK we throw away 1.7 million tonnes of fruit and veg. We buy too much and then don't get around to eating it in time.

Research from Love Food Hate Waste shows that if all apples, bananas and potatoes were sold loose, 8.2 million shopping baskets worth of food waste could be prevented every year.

Buying your fruit and veg loose also means that you can choose the quality that you prefer too - a slightly greener banana, one rosy, red apple of the perfect potatoes for jackets!

So, why not give it a try? Buy Loose, Waste Less.
