What the Scheme for the Establishment of Community Councils is

A community council is a group of local people who volunteer to help improve the area they live in and the public services they use.

The Scheme for the Establishment of Community Councils describes:

• how community councils in Renfrewshire are formed
• the conditions under which community councils operate
• the minimum standards that must be met for recognition as a community council.

We are currently reviewing our Scheme for the Establishment of Community Councils.

We recently asked community councils in Renfrewshire, and anyone who is interested, to complete a survey and provide feedback on the draft Scheme for the Establishment of Community Councils. We'd like to thank everyone who provided feedback in the first stage of the consultation.

We're now taking forward the second and final phase of consultation to gather feedback on the Draft Scheme for the Establishment of Community Councils.

What happens next

After this phase of consultation, we'll use the feedback we receive to inform the final Scheme for the Establishment of Community Councils.
