What extended festive hours you can apply for between Christmas 2024 and New Year 2025, what to do if you already have extended hours included in your operating plans, our festive hours policy.

Applying for extended hours over Christmas and New Year

If you have a licenced on-sale premises and you want to stay open later than your normal closing time during Christmas 2024 and New Year 2025, you need to apply for extended opening hours in accordance with our Festive Hours Policy.

Apply at least 28 days before the first date your hours will change.

You can apply for extended opening hours if you are a licensed on-sale premises, including registered clubs.

You can apply for an extension from your normal closing time until 1am on:

If you already have festive hours in your operating plans

If you have festive hours included in your operating plans under seasonal variations, you must tell the Licensing Board and Police Scotland the dates you plan to stay open later than usual by Monday 2 December 2024.

The Festive Hours 2024 to 2025 [68KB] have been agreed by the Council's Licensing Board in consultation with the Police, Licensing Forum and Community Safety and states the hours and dates you can apply for extensions during the festive period.
