What Local Partnerships are
What local partnerships are, what their aims are, who can join, which one you should join, your role, what the meetings are like and what grant funding is available.
Local Partnerships provide the community with the opportunity to have their say on local issues and make a difference to their local area. They have an informal and inclusive approach as part of a drive to ensure community voices are heard on local issues.
What the aims of Local Partnerships are
- Making connections and networks between community groups and the wider community
- Identifying, setting and sharing local community priorities
- Listening to, consulting and representing local communities
- Distributing grants to support local priorities
Who can join
Membership is split evenly between all local elected members for the area and community representatives.
Community representatives will include the elected chairs of the relevant Community Councils, with the remaining places filled by representatives of community organisations in the area and these are decided by the Local Partnership members.
All meetings are open to the public to attend even if they are not a member of the partnership.
Your role in your Local Partnership
We want you to help shape the discussion and debate at Local Partnership meetings and bring your expertise and local knowledge to decision making.
You'll have a key role in the allocation of funding to local voluntary and community groups as well as providing an important link to local people in your area.
After taking part in the meetings, you will help to share the decisions made by the partnerships with your connections in the local community.
Which one you should join
The partnerships mirror the Community Council boundaries meaning there are seven and they are:
- Renfrew
- Erskine, Inchinnan, Bishopton and Langbank
- The Villages
- Johnstone and Linwood
- Paisley North, West and Central
- Paisley East
- Gleniffer

What the meetings are like
The meetings will be as informal as possible to allow positive discussions to take place.
A welcoming environment for all will be created to ensure that all the partners involved can work together.
There will be at least three meetings per year for each partnership.

What funding is available
Funding is allocated on a population basis to ensure it is spread correctly across Renfrewshire's communities.
Local priorities are set for each partnership and the allocation of grant funding should align to these priorities.
The partnerships allocate general grant funding as well as the Common Good Fund for Renfrew and Paisley.
Applications for the Youth Challenge Fund will be decided upon by young people, with the partnership assisting in identifying and shortlisting appropriate options.
