Council Tax Reduction can help people on a low income reduce their council tax bills.
There are 2 types of Council Tax Reduction you could get, depending on your circumstances:
- Main Council Tax Reduction, which is based on your income, savings, and personal circumstances (for example, how many children live in your home).
- Second Adult Rebate, which is a reduction for people living with one or more other adults (ages 18+) who have a low income; it's not based on your own income or savings.
Council Tax Reduction is based on income. There are other discounts and exemptions for people in specific circumstances, such as students and single people.
