Gambling Statement of Principles

Gambling Act Consultation 2016 - 2019

The Gambling Act 2005 has imposed a statutory requirement upon local licensing authorities to prepare a 'Statement of Principles' that is to be applied by the Licensing Board in the exercise of their licensing functions. This statement must be reviewed by the Board every three years. 

A new Statement for the period from 31 January 2016 has now been published to take effect from that date. The new Statement reflects the responses received to a recent consultation and was approved by the Licensing Board at its meeting on 9 December 2015.  

The Notice and the new Statement of Principles for the period 2016-2019 are available to download in the related content area of the website and/or available to view at the Renfrewshire Council, Customer Service Centre, Renfrewshire House, Cotton Street, Paisley.

The new Statement takes into account recent developments in legislation and also provides information to assist those interested in making, or commenting upon, a gambling licensing application.
