Adult protection
What to do if you are concerned an adult is at risk of neglect, physical, psychological, sexual or financial harm or human trafficking.
We all know that children need to be protected, but sometimes adults need to be protected too.
Older people can become frail or develop dementia or Alzheimer's disease. Adults who have learning disabilities, physical disabilities or mental health problems are more vulnerable to abuse. And the effects of drink or drug abuse can also make it harder for a person to look after themselves.
The harm these adults suffer can take a number of forms, including:
- physical abuse
- psychological abuse
- financial abuse
- sexual abuse
- neglect
For non-emergencies, refer yourself or someone you know to the Adult Services Team using our online form.
