How the Trusted Trader scheme works

The Trusted Trader Scheme helps you choose a reliable local trader by publishing a directory of businesses that have been checked by Trading Standards and allow previous customers to comment and rate their work.

When customers use a Trusted Trader, they send in feedback comments and scores to Trading Standards, who then published the information provided on to the traders individual page.  The traders customer satisfaction score is the average from all their customer feedback. The more feedback received, the more accurate the satisfaction score.

Limitations to the scheme

The scheme provides consumers with a platform to express their views on member businesses quality of work and conduct. Trading Standards are not directly involved in the agreement between you and the seller and we cannot offer compensation. However, we can offer assistance in the event of complaints through our Dispute Resolution Service.

Further to this:

  • We cannot guarantee the financial standing of members.
  • We cannot guarantee their health and safety procedures.
  • We cannot guarantee the quality of our members workmanship.
