Reduce junk mail and phone calls

How to reduce junk mail, email and text messages and avoid unwanted phone sales calls and silent calls.

All of these services are free, but there are some similar named companies that charge you for the same service.  Be careful when searching the Internet for these services. Never pay for them.


Junk mail

To reduce the amount of personally addressed junk mail coming through your door

It will take about four months before you start to get less mail. Put a notice in your window or next to your letterbox saying that you do not want to receive leaflets.


Un-addressed leaflets

To reduce the number of un addressed leaflets delivered by the Royal Mail, write, phone or email them and ask them to stop delivering~

Unwanted phone calls

To reduce the number of unwanted phone sales calls from companies who have NOT previously phoned you

The Telephone Preference Service (TPS), DMA House, 70 Margaret Street, London W1W 8SS

Tel: 08450 700707

It will take up to 28 days for you to stop receiving unwanted phone calls.

To reduce the number of unwanted phone sales calls from companies who HAVE previously phoned you

Send a letter by recorded delivery to each of them asking them to stop phoning you.

If a company continues to call you after you have asked them to stop, contact: Ofcom, Riverside House, 2a Southwark Bridge Road, London SE1 9HA

Unwanted mobile phone calls

Text 'TPS' and your email address to 78070 and Ofcom will immediately place your mobile number on the unsubscribed lists.


Silent phone calls

These phone calls are caused by companies who use automatic dialling equipment which dials more numbers than there are operators available
