Site visits and meetings of the Communities, Housing and Planning Policy Board have resumed.

The Coronavirus (Scotland) Act, which came into force on 7 April 2020, sets out that planning permission that would otherwise lapse in the six months until 6 October 2020 will be extended by one year to allow work to start once the current restrictions are lifted.

Building Standards

Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic Renfrewshire Council Building Standards team are providing a reduced service. We are no longer conducting any site visits or face to face meetings, however officers can still be contacted via email and by telephone:

Please contact your relevant case officer regarding any site inspection queries and we will work with developers and building owners to ensure that completion certificate submissions will continue to be processed during this time.

Building warrants can still be submitted through the portal and we would request that all payments are made online by debit or credit card as we have limited ability to process cheques. Applications that have previously been submitted via the portal will be processed as normal. If you have submitted a hardcopy application please speak to your case officer regarding converting this to an e-application.

Although site inspections are no longer being conducted, we will accept alternative evidence such as photographs, reports from suitably qualified persons, video, or remote means of conducting site inspections i.e. Skype, Zoom etc, and we will work with developers and building owners to ensure that completion certificate submissions will continue to be processed during this time.

The onus remains on the relevant person to ensure the works are carried out in accordance with the building regulations and the approved plans. Any alternative evidence submitted in support of a completion certificate submission should demonstrate that key health and safety requirements have been met.
