Roadworks at Gauze St, Paisley from 1 July

SGN are carrying out a £100,000 project to upgrade the gas network in the Gauze Street area of Paisley.

These essential works involve the replacement of old, metal gas mains with new plastic pipe to ensure a continued safe and reliable gas supply. 

Timeline of works

Monday 1 July 2019
Phase one - approximately six weeks

Work begins in High Street/Gauze Street, outside Piazza Shopping Centre.

The road will remain open although bus stops will closed one at a time, sequentially.

The eastbound lane will be closed on High Street/Gauze Street every Sunday (1, 8, 15, 22 July) for the first four weeks of this phase.
(Diversion for St Mirren St: Causeyside St > Gordon St > Mill St > Gauze St)

Friday 26 July 2019
Phase two - approximately six weeks

Smithhills Street will be closed from Friday 26 July for approximately three weeks, at its junction with Gauze Street.
(Diversions will be signposted for buses and taxis as this road is not open to private vehicles.)

On 12 August, work begins at the junction of Smithhills Street and Gauze Street.

Two-way and three-way, temporary traffic lights will be in place.

Monday 26 August 2019
Phase three - approximately four weeks

Work begins in Gauze Street between Smithhills Street and Lawn Street, with the majority of work taking place in the parking bays and footpath.

However, Lawn Street will be closed or partially closed towards the end of this phase for a period of two to three weeks.
