Communities set to decide their priorities as Local Partnerships meet for the first time

A fresh approach to local decision making is bringing communities to the fore as Renfrewshire gets set for the first meetings of its new Local Partnerships.

Replacing the previous Local Area Committees (LACs), the new partnerships adopt a more informal and inclusive approach to allow local people more of a say in the decisions which affect their area.

Initial memberships have been established consisting equally of local elected members and local community representatives.

The first meetings of the new partnerships are set to take place where members will be asked to discuss and agree the local priorities for the area. These priorities will shape the work of each Local Partnership.

The meetings will take place at 6pm on:

  • Paisley North, West and Central, Gallowhill and Ferguslie - Tuesday 19 March, Marriage Suite, Renfrewshire House
  • Foxbar, Brediland and Glenburn - Wednesday 20 March, Glenburn Community Centre
  • Houston, Bridge of Weir, Brookfield, Kilbarchan, Howwood, Lochwinnoch and Elderslie - Thursday 21 March, Rainbow Centre, Elderslie
  • Johnstone and Linwood - Tuesday 26 March, Johnstone Town Hall
  • Paisley East, Ralston, Hawkhead, Lochfield, Hunterhill and Charleston - Wednesday 27 March, Marriage Suite, Renfrewshire House
  • Renfrew - Thursday 28 March, Renfrew Town Hall
  • Inchinnan, Erskine, Bishopton and Langbank - Thursday 4 April, Bargarran Community Education Centre

The partnerships will allocate funding for projects in the local area, with applications having to align with the priorities set at the first meetings.
