We are continuing to work really hard to ensure that all children can access their full 1140 hours early learning and childcare entitlement as soon as possible.

Our building works were on track to be completed for August 2020, however work had to stop during lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic. Building contractors were able to start working again during the early summer, however this has meant our buildings would not be ready in time for the start of the new school year.

All nurseries in Renfrewshire are able to provide 1140 hours of early learning and childcare to the majority of children, however a small number of children are currently receiving the legal minimum of 600 hours and will move onto the expanded hours after building works at their nursery have been completed. You can see the expected completion dates for building works below.

For the three new build nurseries at Dargavel, Kirklandneuk and Lochfield, children are attending a local nursery and will have the option to move into the new build once it's ready.

Our plan for Renfrewshire nurseries

Our building designs meet the Scottish Government's Quality Action Plan for the Expansion of Early Learning and Childcare in Scotland and have been developed with council officers, education professionals and the Care Inspectorate.

Our biggest projects are building four new centres in Dargavel, Houston, Kirklandneuk and Lochfield ELCCs and three major extensions for Inchinnan and Kilbarchan community nurseries and St Margaret's ELCC.

We are also undertaking minor building works at Auchenlodment, Bridge of Weir, East Fulton, Ferguslie, Gallowhill, Glenburn, Glendee, Glenfield, Heriot, Lochwinnoch, Mossvale, Paisley, Ralston, St Anne's, St Catherine's, Todholm, and West Johnstone, Williamsburgh ELCCs.
