Halloween 2018 preview

Something Wicked This Way Comes

The nights are getting darker, the leaves are starting to fall, and Halloween is upon us once again.

Tomorrow, Saturday 27 October, brings the return of Paisley's annual Halloween Festival and I've heard it's going to be spectacular.

This year's event is part of the Year of Young People, supported by EventScotland, and local young people have been working hard behind the scenes to shape the programme for the day.

There's plenty of fun for all the family as the day kicks off with Halloween themed activities in Paisley Town Hall and Paisley Abbey from 12 noon on Saturday, including face painting, storytelling and craft workshops.

Once night falls, the fun can really begin. This year's parade will leave from New Street at 6pm, bringing professional performers together with local youth and community groups. I always love seeing the incredible art works and costumes and can't wait to see what is in store.

I'm looking forward to seeing witches flying over Abbey Close as professional aerial company All or Nothing join a cast of local young people in an aerial performance suspended 40ft in the air! All the young people have been working hard and overcoming fears to learn something new and it will be amazing to witness.

There's so much taking place in Abbey Close throughout the day, including a live stage featuring performances from local artists, and performances from event favourite - Spark! LED Drummers.

So if you prefer a treat over a trick, come down to Paisley and let us treat you to our Halloween spectacular! See you there!
