Universal Credit digital support

Three ways you can get help to get online in Renfrewshire (Universal Credit)

Ahead of Universal Credit going live in Renfrewshire, here's three ways you can get support to get online.

Universal Credit claims need to be made online, but you'll also need to update your journal as you complete the tasks set by your work coach.

If you already know you don't have the right digital support, here's three things we are offering that can give you what you need.

1. Got a smartphone, tablet or laptop but no access to wifi or data?

There's free public wifi in Johnstone, Renfrew and Paisley town centres.

You can also make use of free public wifi inside the public areas of Renfrewshire House.

2. Need a computer?

You can book a public computer at your local library or Jobcentre Plus office. See Renfrewshire libraries under 'related links'.

Computers are also available at Renfrewshire House and 5 High Street in Paisley as well as Johnstone Town Hall.

3. Need help getting online?

You should speak to your work coach or get in touch with your local Jobcentre Plus.

You can also call the Council's Customer Services team on 0300 300 1422 and we'll direct you to the best place to get digital support to make or maintain your claim.

If you just need to learn how to surf the web, you can book an appointment with a digital volunteer - known as a Digiteer - at one of Renfrewshire's libraries. See book a free lesson on going online under 'related links'.

Many local community groups hold their own digital training sessions - check out what it in your area.

If we didn't answer your question or you need more support, visit our Universal Credit section of the website - see 'related articles'.
