Renfrewshire Council

Celebrating the big 3-0

This year, St Vincent's Hospice are celebrating their 30th anniversary.

St Vincent's are one of my chosen charities to support during my time as Provost of Renfrewshire and, although I'm not fundraising for them this year, I would still love to raise awareness of their work and how you can get involved.

The charity was formed in 1983 when members of the St Vincent De Paul society identified the need to care for people with a terminal illness in the local area.

In 1988 they opened their doors to patients and have continued to go from strength to strength, expanding their services and treating more patients than ever before.

As well as their dedicated in-patient unit and day hospice, the team at St Vincent's also offer care in the community and family support services.

To mark their 30th year, St Vincent's are launching the 30 Challenge, and are looking to hear how you could raise awareness and funds for St Vincent's Hospice in a unique way using the number 30.

Some ideas they have had so far include a 30 foot putting challenge, a challenge to score 30 penalties, and a challenge to not speak for 30 minutes - that would definitely be a challenge for me!

The possibilities are endless and I can't wait to see all the fantastic ideas our Renfrewshire community can come up with.

If you would like to get involved, or get a bit more information, please call St Vincent's Hospice on 01505 705 635 or email and ask for the fundraising team.
