Paisley Pipe Band 2017

Scotland's top pipers set to arrive in Paisley

Tomorrow, Paisley will welcome hundreds of pipers and drummers from across Scotland as they arrive to take part in the Paisley Pipe Band Competition.

I'm delighted to have been asked to take on the role of Chieftain of the event and I'm looking forward to hearing some of Scotland's top bands fill the town with the sound of bagpipes.

The event is now in its eighth year and has fast become a prestigious date in the piping calendar.

Judges from the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association- West of Scotland branch will mark the bands on their performances across varying grades with the first band kicking off the day at 10:30am.

A full day of piping will commence before all the bands come together for the March Past at 4:30pm- the sight of hundreds of pipers and drummers in national dress marching through Paisley is one to behold.

I will then have the honour of presenting the prizes to the winning competitors at around 5:30pm.

After the news that Paisley has been shortlisted for UK City of Culture 2021, the excitement in the town is high so let's keep the celebrations going and have a great day in the town centre.

I can't wait to be a part of it so come out and join me in County Square tomorrow!
