Renfrew Gala Day 2017

Family fun comes first at Renfrew Gala Day

Summer finally arrived in Renfrewshire with all the fun and festivity of the Renfrew Gala Day on Sunday 4 June.

It was great to see so many smiling faces turn out within the community to enjoy the range of family activities and craft stalls at Renfrew Leisure Centre.

The "Under the Sea" themed parade kick-started the day in terrific fashion, setting off from Robertson Park at 1pm and featuring a variety of local community groups and families.

There were so many fabulous costumes on display and I was delighted to take part in the march alongside the Karen E. Moir Dance and Drama school.

After the parade, families enjoyed the funfair rides, inflatables, face painting and a petting zoo at the leisure centre with Pulse FM providing excellent live entertainment at the event.

It was also pleasing to see lots of young people trying out a new sport with Renfrew Football Club and Paisley Rugby Club and there was even a spot of cheerleading with some help from Jazzle Dazzle cheerleaders.

There was nowhere better to spend a Sunday afternoon with family and friends and I now cannot wait for Paisley's ever-popular Barshaw Gala Day on Saturday 24 June from 12noon to 4pm. Come along and join in the fun!
