Online Payment is changing...

From Wednesday 26 October 2016 all online credit or debit card payments must be made via MyAccount - our new digital customer service.

This means that if you are making a payment for yourself or another individual, you will need to be registered for MyAccount to access the secure online payment service. Once logged in, you can view and manage your payments and accounts in one place - and at a time that suits you. 

What are the benefits of using MyAccount?

  • Free, 24/7 access to your accounts and a range of council services  
  • Online account balance information and payment details
  • Viewable record of your payment history and receipts
  • Set up or amend your direct debit for Council Tax
  • Tell us about any changes in address or household details
  • Apply for housing benefit and upload your supporting proof online
  • Apply for Council Tax reduction, discount or exemption
  • Online Rent accounts coming soon with many more services to be added in the new year


What can I pay with MyAccount?

If you are an individual making a payment for yourself or another person,

  • rent
  • council tax
  • benefits overpayments
  • planning applications
  • penalty charge notices
  • other invoices (e.g. sundry income)
  • service charges
  • non-domestic rates

If you are making a payment for Council Tax, please note that Direct Debit is the most efficient and cost-effective way to pay.


I have MyAccount, how do I make an online payment?

From 26th October, simply log in as usual and choose the 'Pay it online - Customer' form in the Services area. You will receive your confirmation email with an authorisation code and the payment will be logged in your Requests history.

I'm not registered for MyAccount, what do I need to do?

To make an online payment you will need to create your own MyAccount profile before the 26th October. It's quick and simple to do - all you need is an email address. Here's how:

  1. Click on the 'Sign-in | Register for MyAccount' button above
  2. Select 'Register for MyAccount'
  3. Scroll down to the 'Create a new Account box' and select the grey 'Register' button
  4. Enter your details
  5. You will receive two emails to confirm your username and give you a one-time password
  6. Click on the 'Activate your account' link in your email to activate your MyAccount
  7. Once logged in, go to the 'Services' area and select the 'Pay it online - Customer' form
  8. You will receive your confirmation email with an authorisation code and the payment will be logged in your 'Requests' history.


I want to make a Business Payment - do I need a MyAccount profile?

No. MyAccount profiles are currently for individual customers only.  From the 26th October you can access the business payment form simply click on Pay Online > Business Customer....this will take you through to the correct 'Pay it online - Business' form without the need to log in to an account. You can pay for non-domestic rates, commercial rent, and other business related invoices.

You will receive a payment confirmation email and authorisation code.

I'd like to set up a Direct Debit for Council Tax, how do I do this with MyAccount?

Direct Debit is the most efficient and cost-effective way to pay your council tax bill.  By choosing to pay your Council Tax bill by direct debit, you ca pay on the 1st, 14th or 27th of the month.  To set up your Direct Debit with MyAccount, select the 'Pay your Council Tax by Direct Debit' button above, log in to MyAccount, and complete the 'Council Tax - Set up or amend a Direct Debit' form.
