Changes to brown bin collections from Monday 10 October

From Monday 10 October, we will be combining food and garden waste collections in your brown bin and collecting your brown bin all year round.

From Monday 10 October, we are combining food and garden waste collections you must put both food and garden waste into your brown bin.

Put your brown bin out on the kerbside by 7am on your collection day.

  • Your brown bin is collected every fortnight on the same day as your blue bin.
  • Do not put your food waste in plastic bags. Only use the special recyclable food waste liners we provide, or put food directly into the bin.
  • Remove all packaging.
  • Don't put liquids (hot or cold) into your brown bin.
  • If the wrong material is in your brown bin, we cannot empty it as it will contaminate the whole vehicle load.
  • From 10 October, we will not empty your green food waste bin if you have a brown bin - you must use your brown bin.

Please use your brown bin to recycle as much food and garden waste as you can.

  1. Put one of the free liners into your indoor food waste caddy.
  2. Put any cooked or uncooked food waste into the bin.
  3. When the liner is almost full, tie it and remove from the bin, replacing with a new liner.
  4. Place the filled liner in your brown bin.
  5. Place your brown bin at the kerbside on your collection day.

Need more liners? Please tie one liner to the handle of your brown bin and the collection crew will leave you a new roll. You can put food waste directly into your brown bin if you want to do so.
