Consultation on the new Draft Strategic Housing Investment Plan 2019/20 to 2023/24

Consultation on the new draft Strategic Housing Investment Plan (SHIP), which covers the period 2019/20 to 2023/24, has now started with comments and feedback invited from all interested parties until Friday 21st September 2018. The proposed draft can be viewed on this page in the Related Documents section.

Comments and feedback received from this consultation will be used to inform and then finalise the Strategic Housing Investment Plan for the next five years.

The Scottish Government allocates grant funding to local authority areas through the Affordable Housing Supply Programme.

As part of the Affordable Housing Supply Programme process, local authorities are required to prepare and update a Strategic Housing Investment Plan each year which sets out key investment priorities for affordable housing which will help to achieve the outcomes set out in the current Renfrewshire Local Housing Strategy which covers the period 2016 to 2021. The Strategic Housing Investment Plan also outlines how the affordable housing supply target of 200 homes each year will be met to 2021.

Affordable Housing can include a range of tenures and includes homes for social rent, low cost home ownership/shared equity, shared ownership, intermediate/Mid-Market Rent and private sector delivered below market cost housing.

Following the consultation period, any representations will be taken into account before finalising the Strategic Housing Investment Plan which will be submitted for approval to the Council's Communities, Housing and Planning Policy Board in October 2018. The final Strategic Housing Investment Plan will also be submitted to the Scottish Government.
