Renfrewshire Council

Rules for leaving Great Britain and claiming Pension Credit

There are rules called 'temporary absence rules' that set the amount of time you are allowed to leave Great Britain (Scotland, England and Wales) for, and still claim Pension Credit.

These rules change from 28 July 2016, down to four weeks.

There will be limited exceptions to this.

What does this mean for me?

If you plan to leave Great Britain for more than four weeks - you may not receive any Pension Credit during this time.
