Universal Credit - work allowance

Universal Credit has a 'work allowance' which is the amount of money you can earn, before your benefit is reduced.

From April 2016, this amount will change for some people and it will be removed completely for others.

What does this mean for me?

If you are disabled or have a child and get help with your rent, when the amount you earn reaches £192 a month, your Universal Credit payment will reduce.

If you are disabled or have a child and don't get help with your rent, when the amount you earn reaches £397 a month, your Universal Credit payment will reduce.

If you are not disabled and don't have any children, your Universal Credit payment will start to reduce as soon as you start to earn.
