Balanced Scorecard

The building standards service is committed to the principle of continuous improvement and we have been operating a balanced scorecard performance framework approach since 2005.

The balanced scorecard is a strategic management plan which informs our internal business practices and our continuous improvement strategy.

A new national performance framework agreement was introduced on the 1st May 2012 and the resultant Key Performance Outcomes were measurable from 1 October 2012. This framework sought to build upon the existing balanced scorecard approach by improving the quality, compliance, consistency and predictability of verification activities.

As part of this performance agreement we are required to submit to the Scottish Government an annual balanced scorecard, quarterly continuous improvement plans and quarterly performance statistics. These documents underpin our commitment to providing a strong customer focused service.

Our Balanced Scorecard which incorporates a summary version of our Continuous Improvement Plan can be accessed under the Related Documents Section on this page.
