Frequently asked questions

You have just started at the council but can't log in to iLearn

User information in iLearn comes from a nightly data feed from Business World. Therefore any new starts to the council first need to be added to Business World and the following day you will be able to access iLearn. Your username is your employee ID and your initial password is your SURNAME (all in capitals). You will be prompted to create a new password when you first log in.

You click the link to iLearn but the page says Service unavailable

You will need to clear your internet cache. To do this in google chrome click the three dots at the top right-hand side of the screen and go to settings. Then click on "privacy and security" and "clear browsing history". In the advanced tab ensure you have clicked on "cookies and other site data" and "cached images and files". Click "clear data". Once this is complete, try the link again.

These instructions are similar in Microsoft Edge, click on the three dots at the top right-hand side of the screen and go to settings. Then click on "privacy, search and services" and "clear browsing history now". Select "all time" from time range drop down box and ensure you have clicked on "cookies and other site data" and "cached images and files". Click "clear now". Once this is complete, try the link again.

Welcome to iLearn, this short video will guide you through the process of logging in and navigating the iLearn system.

This is the login screen in iLearn. When you initially login you will enter your username (which will be the same as your employee ID)

Your password will initially be setup as your surname all in capitals.

You will then be prompted to create your own password.

Under current password enter your surname again in capitals then in the box below it type in your new password and repeat your new password in the third box. And press save changes.

Navigating the iLearn system

If you have used iLearn before then you should find the new system extremely similar in look and feel with courses all in the same categories as they were previously.

There is a search box above the categories which allows you to search for courses by typing in the name for example if I was looking for the Display screen awareness module I could type in the name and click on the magnifying class icon.

And the module would be shown in the search results.

I can also find the Display screen awareness module by clicking on the health and safety category, health and safety again in the sub category and the display screen awareness module.

This will open the module up, and if I wanted to begin the module I would click on the Start the course button.

This will load a pop up screen with the actual course itself, if the pop up screen is a little small you would simply click on the maximise box at the top right of the pop up window

From here you can complete the course as usual.

Once you can completed the course you will see that it now displays as such in green. All course completions from the previous version of iLearn have already pulled through onto the new system.

If we click on my courses which is displayed at the top left of the screen it will show us all of our completed and in progress courses.

Thank you for watching this video
