School closure - supporting staff to come to work

The recent announcement from Scottish Government to close schools and nurseries across Scotland may impact on many of you. The Council and our partners fully appreciate the additional pressure this creates for parents and carers to balance work and caring responsibilities.

If this applies to you please contact your manager as soon as possible to discuss the arrangements that we can put in place to support you during the period of closure.

A number of options can be considered including changing work patterns and shifts where possible, working from home where possible, and identifying where the council can continue to provide childcare options to ensure public sector workers can continue to work and deliver critical services.

We ask that you consider all options available to you, including drawing on your own personal networks, to help balance care with carrying out your duties and/or any other duties that may be assigned to you.  If you require short period of special leave to make arrangements, the existing policy will apply.

Given the extent of the challenge, managers have been asked to quickly find solutions that are flexible and protect the delivery of essential services. Please be assured you will continue to be paid while you balance work and childcare.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank staff across the council, Renfrewshire Health and Social Care Partnership and Renfrewshire Leisure for their ongoing support and flexibility. It is greatly appreciated.

Thank you and please stay safe and well.

Yours sincerely,

Sandra Black
