Test and Protect in the workplace - Underwood Road depot, 20 October 2020

Letter sent to staff at Underwood Road, 20 October 2020

Dear Colleague,

Please be aware that NHS Test and Protect are carrying out COVID-19 contact tracing at Underwood Road depot following confirmation of a positive case. Anyone identified as a close contact will be contacted by phone by the Test and Protect Team and advised to self-isolate. Everyone else can safely attend work as normal.

A careful risk assessment has been carried out in relation to this case and I can confirm very robust health and safety measures are in place. I would also ask that you please remain vigilant to the symptoms of COVID-19 and do not attend work if you or anyone else in your household develop symptoms.

It is vitally important that we are all fully compliant with our COVID-19 safe work practices - both in the workplace and when out and about in our communities. This includes following the latest Scottish Government guidance in relation to wearing face coverings in the workplace. This means face coverings must be worn in workplace canteens/welfare areas, when colleagues are not seated at a table - in the same way this is expected in public cafes and restaurants. Face coverings must also be worn when entering all council buildings and in all communal areas such as corridors, toilets, breakout areas, including when sharing a council vehicle, and in any situation where 2m distance cannot be maintained.

I would like to take this opportunity to remind you once again of the current public health advice: if you develop symptoms of COVID19, please do not attend work. You should immediately self-isolate and book a test as soon as possible. You should also stay at home if someone you live with has symptoms. Please make sure you contact your manager immediately so that support and advice can be provided. If you are contacted by Test and Protect, please follow the advice and remember the council is here to help you.

The symptoms you must look out for include:

  • a high temperature or fever
  •  a new continuous cough
  • a loss of, or change in sense of smell or taste.

Further information on COVID-19 including what to do if you develop symptoms and how to access a test is available from NHS Inform.

Detailed guidance on how to report a suspected or confirmed case of COVID-19 is available from your manager or on the staff section of the council website: http://www.renfrewshire.gov.uk/workingsafelyduringcoronavirus

Once again, my sincerest thanks for your vigilance and support.

Gordon
