Renfrewshire Council

Message from Chief Executive, Sandra Black - 7 September 2020

Today's announcement from Scottish Government means additional local restrictions will be introduced in Renfrewshire from midnight tonight - Monday 7 September 2020.

This decision was agreed with the Scottish Government, the NHS and the council to manage increasing rates of positive Coronavirus cases in our local area and follows restrictions already in place across much of the West of Scotland.

The measures have been introduced for an initial two-week period will be reviewed after 7 days on Monday 14 September 2020

These additional restrictions mean that if you live in Renfrewshire, East Dunbartonshire, Glasgow, East Renfrewshire or West Dunbartonshire, in order to help prevent the spread of coronavirus, you should not:

  • host people from any other households in your home, unless they are in your extended household
  • visit people you do not live with in their home no matter where that is, unless they are in your extended household

If you live in any of the affected areas, and you are identified as a close contact of someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, you and all those in your household group should self-isolate for 14 days.

This is a new and changing situation for everyone, but the priority is the wellbeing of our staff and local people. I want to assure you that the council will be doing all it can - with our partners, to help keep you, and the local people who depend on us, safe, well and supported.

We will continue to deliver council services as they are currently, and our schools and nurseries will remain open. All council workplaces and services have been subject to careful risk assessments and we have robust health and safety measures in place.

Visits to households to deliver care and carry out repairs and installations will also continue.

It is vitally important that we are all fully compliant with our COVID-19 safe work practices both in the workplace and when out and about in our communities. Please be assured that the health and wellbeing of our staff is our number one priority and all decisions are based on the latest Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and Scottish Government guidance and made in consultation with Trade Unions.

We have previously published Safe Working Guides and detailed guidance on how to report a suspected or confirmed case of COVID-19 [34KB] . We must all ensure we are aware of our responsibilities, continue to observe our workplace rules on physical distancing and other measures to prevent infection such as regular handwashing. Together we must ensure we do everything possible to prevent the transmission of this virus and to keep each other and Renfrewshire safe.

If you, or anyone in household has any symptoms, please stay home and book a test as quickly as possible. If you are contacted by Test and Protect, please follow their advice.

If you are a manager then please check on the welfare of your staff, and make sure you keep up to date with Scottish Government guidance and regularly check our Local Restrictions web pages for our latest information.

Thank you and please stay safe and well.

Best wishes,

Sandra Black
